“Raise Your Hands, It’s My Year!”

Stories from the S.A.F.E. Space

Before I officially blow out the candles this year, I’m taking a moment to celebrate… me! This post is a reminder that reflection isn’t just about lessons learned from challenges — it’s also about honoring the wins, big and small. Because let’s be real: if we don’t celebrate ourselves, who will?

2025 has been a year of growth, grit, and some seriously hard-earned accomplishments. And yes, I’m going to toot my own horn for a minute (or a lot of minutes) because these wins deserve recognition:

  • Spelman College Instructor – stepping into the classroom and sharing my love for movement and mental health with students.

  • NASW Presenter – getting to speak about art and mental health to a professional audience, connecting with other changemakers.

  • Jonesboro High Choreographer – creating something magical on stage with incredible young artists.

  • Divorce Final – navigating a major life transition with courage, clarity, and a lot of self-reflection.

  • Finished Master’s Program – crossing the finish line after years of late nights, hard work, and learning curves.

And there’s more, but these are the highlights that made me stop, breathe, and say, “Wow… look at what I did.”

Here’s the thing: celebrating yourself isn’t just about bragging. It’s about acknowledging growth, resilience, and courage. It’s about giving yourself the applause you deserve, even when life keeps throwing challenges your way. Because each win is proof that you are capable, strong, and moving forward — no matter how messy or complicated the path.

Celebration is also a practice of gratitude. For every win, there’s effort, there’s sacrifice, there’s learning. And pausing to honor that creates momentum, energy, and joy that fuels your next chapter.

So here I am, celebrating my wins, feeling proud, and ready to step into another year — with lessons learned, goals set, and excitement for what’s next.

TAG, You’re It!

Take a moment to celebrate you:

What are three wins — big or small — from this past year that deserve your recognition?
